Cell-mediated immunity: The role of bacterial protein secretion
نویسنده
چکیده
Most eukaryotic cells express major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules on their surface. These immune molecules present peptide fragments derived from the breakdown of proteins in the cell to CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), which recognize the peptide–MHC complexes via T-cell receptors (TCRs) expressed on their surface [1]. In uninfected cells, the peptides that are bound within the cleft of MHC class I molecules are derived from self-encoded proteins and do not activate the CTLs. During infection, however, some of the peptides that are presented on the cell surface by MHC class I molecules derive from intracellular pathogens. These peptides are recognized by CTLs as being foreign, thereby inducing activation, proliferation and expansion of these cells into an effector population that can directly combat infection and also give rise to memory CTLs that rapidly curtail repeat infections with the same pathogen. A critical aspect of this process is that CTLs only recognize foreign peptides that are presented by self-MHC class I molecules, hence the concept of MHC restriction [2].

EVA LUATION OF THE ROLE OF CELL-MEDIATED IMMUNITY IN DERMATOPHYTOSIS
For demonstration of cell-mediated immunity and its role in the process of dermatophytosis, 98 patients with acute dermatophytosis (group I) and 131 chronic dermatophytosis patients (group 2) were chosen. In ail patients, lymphocyte transfonnation and skin test were used. 96 members of group I (98%) had positive delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) responses to trichophytin, whereas only 43 ...

Introduction: The vaginal flora is a dynamic ecosystem that can be easily altered. Although, there are four causes of vaginal discharges which cover almost 95% of vaginaitis. Candidal Vaginaitis is an infection of the vagina’s mucous membranes by Candida albicans (CA). Present study attempted to Candidal Vaginitis in women referred to health centers in Yazd and the role of innate & cell-mediate...
متن کاملPURIFICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PROTEIN ANTIGENS ISOLATED FROM MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS (H37Rv STRA IN) AND THEIR EFFECTS ON CELL-MEDIATED IMMUNE RESPONSES IN GUINEA PIGS
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (H37Rv strain) was used in this study. The bacterial cells were disintegrated by sonication. The separation and characterization of the soluble molecules were attempted by various techniques including gel filtration, ion exchange chromatographies and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, using SDS and 2ME. Eight protein molecules with molecular weights ranging from...
متن کاملDifferential protein expression in Mycobacterium tuberculosis susceptible and multidrug resistant isolates
Introduction: Infections by multidrug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a major public health challenge. Secretion of proteins by M. tuberculosis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of the bacterium. We compared the protein profiles of susceptible M. tuberculosis and MDR-TB isolates using proteomic analyses, namely two dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) and mass spectr...
متن کاملThe role of ISCOMATRIX bilayer composition to induce a cell mediated immunity and protection against leishmaniasis in BALB/c mice
Objective(s):Development of new generation of vaccines against leishmaniasis is possible because long-term protection is usually seen after recovery from cutaneous leishmaniasis. ISCOMATRIX is particulate antigen delivery system composed of antigen, cholesterol, phospholipid and saponin. In this study, the role of ISCOMATRIX bilayer composition made by different phase transition temperature (Tc...
متن کاملEvaluation of humoral and cellular immunity of recombinant autolysin protein Staphylococcus aureus in mouse model
Background: Staphylococcal aureus is a gram positive cocci and opportunistic pathogen. Due to the spread of this bacterium to antibiotics resistance, one of the most important ways of prevention is the use of vaccines. In this respect, autolysin protein as one of the adhesion molecule of bacteria plays an important role for binding bacteria to the host cells and cell division. Herein, the role ...
